Pasion Vega - Alma Y Fuego [CD]

In Alma y Fuego, Gustavo Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela delve into the multifaceted sound world of Manuel de Falla, celebrating the 50th anniversary of El Sistema with three complementary visions of Andalusia. At the heart of the album lies the definitive 1925 ballet-pantomime version of El amor brujo, where vocalist Pasion Vega captures the expressive power and ritual mystery of cante jondo. In the impressionistic Noches en los jardines de España, pianist Javier Perianes conjures shimmering nocturnal atmospheres through subtle, dance-inflected textures. The programme culminates in the second suite from El sombrero de tres picos, blending regional traditions - from fandango to solea and jota-into an exhilarating theatrical triumph.Captured for Platoon following the ensemble's acclaimed, GRAMMY®-nominated collaborations, these vivid performances highlight Falla's genius in transforming folk roots into sophisticated orchestral masterworks, illuminated by Dudamel's instinctive mastery of rhythm, colour, and storytelling.
